Natural Light

“ Every time I pass by my beautiful artwork I see something new. Having a piece of work in my home that truly responds to the earths movements, brings me a daily dose of peace and harmony that I cherish dearly. ”

The Benefits of

Natural Light

There is no better light than sunlight. It is vast, strong, and forever changing. If hung outdoors or in a space which receives lots of direct sunlight the entire artwork will come to life, filling the white panel with colour!

These artworks beautifully respond to the environment by synchronising  with the planet’s movements and seasonal shifts. When working with natural light, you can enjoy the dynamic, ever changing effects all year round.

Light Study

It’s important to understand what light currently exists and how it is travelling throughout your space.

On a clear, sunny day, study the light in your space. Where are the shadows falling? What time is it?

This is a great opportunity for you to take your artwork on a walk. Place it flat onto different walls to find the perfect spot.

When hung outdoors, these artworks are at their most striking, bathed in unobstructed sunlight. The colours shift, and the piece transforms like a sundial in response to the sun’s movement.

Our editions can be made specifically for outdoor display, using materials and finishes designed to withstand the elements. If you're interested in an outdoor piece, please get in touch – a member of our team will be happy to advise.

The Perfect Angle

Another important thing to consider is the angle at which the light is falling on the artwork. The channel of light needs to be at an angle to the dichroic elements. This will allow the light to pass directly through the material to produce the longer projections of colour.

Remember, head-on light won’t pass through the dichroic elements, therefore will not bring the artworks to life.

The artwork should be adjacent to a window, not directly in front of it, as shown in this image.
