From brief to installation, here is our guide to CWL commissions.

We specialise in crafting experiential artworks that radiate the transformative power of light. Our artistic vision extends to various private and public domains, including education, healthcare, corporate, commercial, and large-scale public art, as well as intimate residential spaces. The team are continually developing innovative ways to approach concepts from brief through to realisation and are united in their ongoing passion for the phenomenon of light; the driving force behind all CWL designs.

Wether you are commissioning a wall panel, window installation or site specific sculpture, we guarantee your space will be transformed with the magic of our artworks.

Commissions

Step One

Establishing the brief

Our first priority is developing an in-depth understanding of your requirements and the space the artwork will be situated in. Fill out our brief questionnaire specifying your budget range and a brief overview of your vision for the project. We may also ask you to provide additional details like site pictures, plans, elevations, and geo-location, to gain a better understanding of your space and the available light. This helps us to establish the movement of natural light and how it will interact with the artwork, not only will your artwork be custom designed but also fabricated with a consideration for your light availability.

Site visits

To gain even more insight into your space we may conduct a site visit. This helps us get a in depth understanding of the lighting opportunities, and visual potential of the materials in situ.

We will always bring samples to test the effects, however, If you are not based in the UK we can send over a sample for you to experiment with in the space.

Outline Proposal

Step Two

Once the budget has been established we will require a design fee, that is deductible from the total project cost. - Design fee dependent of scale of project.

Our creative team pride themselves on paying attention to the details of any given brief.

We may ask a few questions about what inspires you/ draws your attention and what is important to you, your home, brand or company. We then create a research-led outline proposal with a maximum of 3 design concepts. This is expected to take 3-4 weeks to present to you for discussion.

Design Proposal

Step Three

The CWL team understand that the design process is a collaborative one, and will work closely with you until a final design is realised.

After gathering your feedback from the proposal review, we finalise your chosen design in order to commence fabrication. Sequentially, we work to construct a timeline for the next stages of the project.

Step Four

With our wall panels we advise 8-10 working weeks for fabrication to be completed. For other installations the timeline is dependant on ordering and preparing materials as well as creating a plan for installation.

Installation

Step Six

Installation can be done by our in-house team or experienced art installers. Depending on the complexity of the design and size of installation.

Please fill out our enquiry form if you are interested in commissioning your own bespoke CWL artwork.

Please note that timelines are subject to change based on the project's scale and complexity, and a more detailed timeline will be provided upon receiving the design fee. If there anything specific you would like to further elaborate on or inquire about regarding this commissioning process, please get in touch.

Whilst many traditional art forms deteriorate in the sun, a CWL artwork is brought to life by it, providing you with a statement piece of art that never looses its magic.
